Problem - Console

Short circuit on tower 1 or tower 2

Description

A problem is perhaps a bridge rectifier is defective. There are 2 brigde rectifier in a Power supply unit. Replace them! A bridge rectifier has 4 Pins. Besides the pins you can see it's very very small 4 symbols: - 1 x S - 1 x S - 1 x (+) - 1 x (-) The S: Here are the cables of the AC voltage (AC=alternating current). This means on one pin with the S-Symbol you put one of the 220V cable. On the other pin with the S-Symbol you put the other 220V cable. The bridge rectifier will transform the AC to DC (DC=direct current). The DC is now at the Pin (+) and the Pin (-). Genious.

Now check if there is a short circuit inside the bridge rectifier. Buy a new rectifier and take your multimeter use the function "measurement of diode". First remove all screws of the cables from the rectifier, so that the rectifier has no more contact. Now put the red cable of the multimeter on one pin and the black cable of the multimeter on another pin. Make the same with the new rectifier and verifiy if you have the same values. You have to check every combination. There are 12 possible combinations.. The original bridge rectifier was a "Edi 50A, 200V" rectifier. I have replaced them with some from ebay "KBPC5010, 50A, 1000 V". It's no problem if the bridge rectifier can handle 1000V. So i buy a Yosoo Health Gear Gleichrichter 1600V, 1pc Black 150A (Photo 4)
