Problem - General Host computer (PC) dead
Description If the host computer is dead meaning absolute no function (no power, no LED lights up etc.) you should check to following points. 1. Check if mains voltage is applied to the main socket of the computer's PSU. Try a different power cord and a different wall socket. 2. open to top cover of the computer and locate the mains switch. At it's back there are for wires connected, two feed the switch with main power (pre switch), the other two wires are post switch and run to the power supply. While the main switch is in it's ON position, check if the voltage is present before and behind the switch. Therefore you need a measurement tool to measure the voltage. 3. If no voltage is present before the switch, check the internal main fuse (photo 5 have a look on the right side, there you can see "Fuse") 4. If no voltage is present after the switch, replace it! 5. If voltage is present after the switch, the PSU has a fault. The fastest and cheapest! way to bring the computer back to life is to replace the power supply. For older AT PSUs eBay is a good source to get a replacement. 6. Additionally the low voltage at the PSU's output can be checked. Therefore you need the voltage measurement tool again. For more information about computer PSUs please refer to the information on Wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Power_supply_unit_(computer)
1. Alternativly buy a power supply tester on ebay, it costs about 15 Euro. 2. Open the pc (Photo 1) 3. Plug the power supply tester (photo 2) 4. With the suppy tester you can verify if the voltage of the suppy are correct. You can see the 12 Volt is only 10.8 Volt (photo 3). The permissible range therefore goes from 11.4V to 12.6V, so that could be a problem, but in this case it is not a problem. 5. Alternativly you can buy a new ATX power supply and additionally buy a ATX-to-AT-Power-Supply-Adapter. You can find them on ebay also as "24Pin-to-20Pin-Adapter". Now you have a new AT Power supply. We haven't tested it so far, but it could work.
1. Alternativly open your pc and remove every card inside. 2. Remove everything from the motherboard. Really completely. 3. Then remove the motherboard.. 4. Then reinstall the motherboard. 5. Now put the supply connector on the motherboard. 6. Now switch on the power supply. 7. If now you hear the power supply starting, i would say perfect. 8. Assemble the pc completly with all the cards inside. 9. Sometimes it's only a simple contact problem
